She needs her own line before she can answer anything. It takes about ten seconds.

Claim her number

1

Verify your email

Click the link Lawtte emailed you when you signed up. Buying a number and going live are both gated on a verified email.
2

Pick an area code

Three digits — the one your clients expect to see. We pre-guess it from your location. Local numbers get answered more often than toll-free ones.
3

Claim it

On a Lawtté-managed plan it’s included, no card. Self-serve, you choose your plan and add a payment method first; the builder shows the terms before you confirm.
Her number appears in Dashboard → Agent, with a copy button.
Call it yourself first, with a real client situation, before you route anything to it. This is the single best ten minutes you’ll spend on setup.

Two ways to go live

Forward your office line

Keep publishing your existing number. Send calls to her when nobody picks up, or after hours. Nothing on your website or business cards changes.

Publish her number directly

Use her line as your intake number on your website, ads, and Google Business Profile. Every new caller reaches her first.
Most firms start with forwarding and move to publishing once they trust her.

Forwarding codes

Replace 5551234567 with her 10-digit number.
Ask your phone provider for conditional call forwarding — forward only when the line is busy or nobody answers, usually after 4 rings. Your team keeps first crack at every call, and she catches everything they miss. That’s the setup most firms end up on.

Only after hours?

You don’t need a forwarding rule for that — it’s a phone-system setting on your side. Point your after-hours forward at her number and your team keeps daytime calls. What she does on those calls is controlled in Lawtte: see after-hours coverage.

Releasing a number

Dashboard → Settings → release. Callers to that number will hear a disconnected tone afterwards, and the number can’t be reclaimed once it’s released. If you’re mid-campaign with the number printed somewhere, don’t.

What she can and can’t do with her line

Nights, weekends, holidays, and while your team is on other calls.
Warm transfer to the number you set, after she’s screened the caller — and a message instead if nobody picks up.
Her number is for voice. Texting your clients is a separate Lawtte feature — ask contact@lawtte.ai.
Every answered minute counts against your included minutes — watch the running total in Dashboard → Settings → Usage. Test calls from the dashboard don’t count.
